ACS Staff
ANCASTER COMMUNITY SERVICES STAFF
ACS is staffed by four professionals and governed by a volunteer Board. Our dedicated staff members have broad experience in community outreach and their connections to other charitable and social agency organizations make them a valuable resource in our community.
Karen Thomson, BA (Gerontology /Sociology), SSW , Registered OCSWSSW, AVA Academy

Karen has served in the non-profit sector for more than 20 years and joined ACS in 1999 as the Community Worker. Now as Executive Director, Karen is responsible for the day-to-day operations of ACS, the agency’s public spokesperson and is professionally trained and designated to provide information and referral as well, support counseling to ACS client's. Karen is management’s representative on the ACS Board. Raised in Ancaster since the 70's Karen appreciates, recognizes and understands the continual changes occurring in the Ancaster community.

Carol has been on staff with ACS since March 2007. She started out with our organization as a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels and Assisted Volunteer Driving programs. Carol supports ACS in all the financials for ACS, including budgets and monetary reports.
Melanie Barlow BA (Political Science/Geography), B.Ed, VMC

Melanie joined ACS in 2005. Melanie has volunteered in the community for many years and has served on several executive committees, including her current role as an executive member of the Hamilton Administrators of Volunteers (HAV). Melanie is responsible for the recruitment and retention of volunteers. Melanie receives clients for the Meals on Wheels and Assisted Volunteer Driving Programs. Melanie believes that the volunteers at ACS are one of the factors that make Ancaster such a great community to live in.
Alethea Ouzas SSW/Gerontology

Alethea is our newest staff member, bringing experience from the Community, Alethea worked with Good Shepherd and as a Wraparound Facilitator. Alethea is an enthusiastic, compassionate person who is now looking forward to working with everyone at ACS in the capacity of counselling and referral.
