2010 Community Links Golf Tournament9th Annual Community Links Golf Tournament For Immediate Release LOCAL PROGRAMS WIN, THANKS TO THE SUCCESS OF ANCASTER COMMUNITY SERVICES’ COMMUNITY LINKS GOLF TOURNAMENT The Ancaster Community Services Community Links golf tournament, played at Knollwood golf club on June 9th, raised over $18,500 to support local families and individuals in need, tournament organizers say. Since Community Links was first held nine years ago, it has contributed more than $131,500 to help finance vital human services in our community, including Meals on Wheels, Assisted Volunteer Driving, the ACS food voucher program and Youth Employment Services. “We wish to sincerely thank all of our sponsors, golfers, prize donors and volunteers for contributing to a very worthwhile cause,” said Chris Bellefeuille, ACS Chair. “The money raised will support very important programs that are experiencing increasing demand in Ancaster. The economic downturn hit many people in our community hard and the success of the Community Links tournament will help Ancaster Community Services to cover some of the costs of meeting the increasing demand for our services, which includes additional requests for food vouchers. We’re very grateful to the citizens and businesses in Ancaster for helping us to help those in need.” This year’s tournament attracted eight major sponsors: Horne, LLP; TD Waterhouse Institutional Services; S. Llewellyn & Associates; Ancaster Film Fest; Rankin Construction; Stephen J. Dunn-State Farm Insurance; Investors Group Financial Services and Wilson Blanchard Management Inc., as well as 36 hole sponsors, 97 golfers and 18 silent auction items. Community Links is Ancaster Community Services’ single most important fundraiser. Planning for next year’s event, which will be held on Wednesday, June 8th, 2011, is now underway.
